CastoMag 45351 has been designed specifically to provide protection against heavy wear. Applications include coatings on rolling mills and wire drawing equipment, conveyor rollers, crushing and hammering installations, drill crowns, gravel pumps, shear blades, and tools for hot- and cold-forging and for forming. CastoMag is also ideal for preventive maintenance applications, wear plates and for repairing edges directly on non-alloy steel base materials.
Preparation
For best results, remove contamination, cracks and worn metal from the weld area, using ChamferTrode 03 (DC) or 04 (AC) gouging electrodes. Round off sharp edges.
Preheating
Preheating should be adapted according to the size of the workpiece, its base material and its carbon content. Preheating is recommended when welding base metals that are prone to cracking.
Welding
Current: = (+) [inverse polarity]
Possible welding modes: Short-circuit metal transfer, axial-spray metal transfer, pulsed-arc metal transfer.
Machining
CastoMag 45351 deposits can be machined by grinding and can be cut using arc, oxyfuel and plasma cutting processes.
