Developed for assemblies or rebuilding on cast irons with Maximum Safety Margin. Joining cast iron to steel.

Gas shielded welding cored wire.

EnDOtec®’s composite cross sectional design automatically produces a higher current density in the electrode’s metallic periphery over solid MIG/MAG wires of the same diameter using the same welding amperage. This ensures over 30% faster electrode fusion without sacrificing weld quality giving record weld deposition rates over MIG/MAG and Manual Metal Arc processes. Thanks to EnDOtec®’s intrinsic higher current density, a cored wire can always be welded at lower amperages than a solid wire whilst keeping a stable metal transfer across the arc due to ionising elements in the core.

Lower heat input means that EnDOtec® welds have better bonding, lower dilution, superior microstructure properties and minimal heat affected zones for maximum service performance.

The metallurgical structure of the deposit and its mechanical properties can vary, depending on the thermal cycle employed.

Shielding gases

Recommended gases 82% Ar, 18% CO2
Alternative gases 100% CO2
Flow rate 12-16 L / min
  • the innovative composition with carbon and manganese added to a ferro nickel base, gives a slag-free deposit with exceptionally good mechanical properties
  • the nickel rich matrix, with spheroid graphite precipitates, offers exceptional crack resistance under high restraint
  • due to a combination of strength and good elongation properties, cast iron can be rejoined, with maximum safety margin
  • low heat input for low dilution
  • maximum weld metal recovery
  • excellent bead appearance, no spalling, high arc stability
  • exceptional all position weldability
  • high deposition rate

For joining and coating highly restrained spheroid graphite cast iron, grey cast iron and malleable cast iron work pieces, as well as for joining cast iron to steels.
Casings for pumps and valves, crushers, machine tool beds, machining errors on castings.

Preparation
Remove old welding deposits and fatigued metal with Xuper Exotrode.
For joining and assembly, bevel edges to a V (45°) or X, especially for parts with a large cross-section. Areas to be coated and the groove faces of joints should be cleaned or ground to remove any contamination or oxidation (scale).

Preheating
This is not usually necessary. With difficult-to-weld base metals and with complex-shaped work pieces, slight preheating to about 200°C will minimise any risk of cracking in the transition zone.

Welding current (+) DCEP

Welding technique
For multipass flat/down hand welding, best penetration is obtained by pulling the torch at an angle of 70-80° to the axis of the joint.
For fillet and or corner welding, the best bead pattern is obtained by pushing the torch at an angle of 60-70°to the axis of the joint.

Machining
Machine using normal cutting tools. Arc or plasma cutting equipment may also be used.
